The Republic of Cyprus, represented by the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism, announced on the 11th of February 2012, by a notice published in the Official Journal of the European Union, the inauguration of the 2nd Licensing Round Offshore Cyprus.
The Blocks 1-11, and 13, located within the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic, were available. The deadline for the submission of the application was set to 11th of May 2012.
Without prejudice to the application of the provisions regarding national security, of Article 2(2) of Directive 94/22/EC, the following criteria were used on granting licences for the prospection, exploration and production of hydrocarbons:
(a) the technical and financial ability of the applicants;
As a result of the 2nd Licensing Round, the following Hydrocarbon Exploration Licences were granted:
(b) the ways in which the applicant intends to carry out the activities that are specified in the licence;
(c) the financial consideration that the applicant is offering in order to obtain the licence; and,
(d) any lack of efficiency and responsibility that the applicant has shown under any previous licence or authorisation of any form in any country of the world.
- ΕΝΙ Cyprus Limited & KOGAS Cyprus Limited: three Exploration Licences for the Blocks 2, 3 & 9, in 24th of January 2013.
- TOTAL E&P Cyprus B.V.: two Exploration Licences for the Blocks 10 & 11, in 6th of February 2013.
