Trade Policy and Bilateral Relations




RESPONSIBILITIES


The competencies of the European Union, International Οrganisations, Bilateral and Public Relations Section include the following:

Participation in working groups of the European Union that are responsible for the formulation and implementation of the Common Commercial Policy of the EU and more specifically:

The Section is also responsible for the implementation of the provisions of Articles 34 to 36 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, which provide for the free movent of goods within the internal market of the EU.

Moreover, the section is responsible for the follow up of the developments concerning trade in International Organisations such as UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and development), ITC (International Trade Centre), ECE (Economic Commission for Europe), as well as the Commonwealth.

In addition the Section is competent for the promotion of bilateral trade and economic relations with other countries, including the preparation of the visits of the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism abroad as well as the visits of foreign officials to Cyprus.
